2022 Was Full of Adventures — What does 2023 Hold?

Goals are a great things to start with every year but it’s also a good time to reflect what happened and what was achieved the previous year.

2022 was a year of trying to simplify my goals into 4 arenas: exercise, getting outside, travel, and thankfulness. I can say 2022 was full of all of those arenas.

The highlights were:

Getting a kitten and puppy (Leo in January and Greg in July)

Going to Utah/Wyoming and doing our tour of US Parks

Our 17 day whirlwind Croatia adventure

Sporting events — Huskies, Mariners, Kraken, etc. The Mariners went to the playoffs for the first time in like ever and we were there to witness it — both the game that sent us to the play offs (Cal Raleigh’s 9th inning home run) and the one playoff 18 inning game!

Hawaii adventures with some of the best of friends!

2022 was highlighted mostly by travel and adventure! Watching Leo and Greg grow up over the last year has been fun as well — we’ve been through some fun milestones and we are now past the potty training and sleeping through the night! One of the things I think we didn’t do as much of is giving back to the community — did some through Asian Hall of Fame, but hopefully in 2023 I can do more.

Goals 2022:

Exercise, maintain healthy weight/lifestyle

Get outside and explore

Hike as much as I can

Adventure, travel, but be safe

Be gracious and thankful for what I have — Give back to the community more

Now onto 2023! The goals this year I chose to keep pretty simple. Keep it within the community, travel, fitness, and wellness categories. The first is community — this goal is to give back more and find ways to be grateful for what I have through reflection and try to be more involved with the different boards/non-profits I help support. The second is travel — Kevin and I are trying to do one vacation out of the country a year to a different destination and really just go see the world. This year I think we’ve decided on Spain and Portugal — more to come on that one! The third goal of 2023 is fitness. I’m trying to continue to stay in shape by running weekly and doing some weights and the big one is complete by 3rd half marathon. This time around I’ll have Kevin to join me! And of course fitness includes some hikes — last year it was hard to do ones I haven’t done before so this year I’m just leaving it a blanket 10! And the last goal is centered on wellness. Some of the things within the wellness category that I want to do is trying a new recipe each week — food is so fun to try and Kevin and I love trying new things so we thought why not explore with our taste buds! And we can try 52 different recipes and see which ones we liked best after the year is up. The next one is reading — I do not read nearly as much as I used to so at least 1 book a quarter; but realistically I really am striving for 1 book a month. Trying to manage work life balance through calling a friend once a week and of course spending time with family and friends!

COMMUNITY: Be gracious and thankful for what I have — Give back to the community more

TRAVEL: adventure, go somewhere new out of country, explore different cultures

FITNESS: exercise/workout to feel good, walk 30 minutes every day or run 15 miles each week, run 3rd half marathon, at least 10 hikes

WELLNESS: try 1 new recipe per week, read 1 book a quarter, call a friend I haven’t spoken with once a week instead of a text, spend more time with friends/family
