Wow 2021 was here and now another year in the past. So much happened over 2021 and it was a good reminder to myself that every year goes by quicker and quicker. 2021 was full of happiness, lots of firsts, spontaneity and adventures. Reflecting on my goals I set forth and where I got was pretty amazing. Here’s a quick reminder of those goals.

Reminder of goals 2021:

Achieve 2021 miles of physical activity

Buy a house and adopt a dog

Work out to feel good, not to be thinner →drink more water and stretch everyday

Eat healthier: cook more, meal prep, and try not to snack as much

Get back to hiking →Focus on Olympic Peninsula/North Cascades/Rainier (can only do new hikes)

Be more spontaneous and adventurous

Invest in the stock market →try a couple new stocks

Volunteer more and do more random acts of kindness

Reinvest in learning

Be kind to myself — lots of self-care

Achieved:

I’ll start with the ones I achieved in 2021. One of the biggest goals I achieved was my goal of physical fitness. I went well above the 2021 miles of physical activity throughout the year — I learned weight-lifting, I put on probably 10 lbs of muscle and stuck to a gym routine for the whole year. We bought a home gym due to the pandemic — weight lifting set, bench, etc and that definitely helped. Alongside working out came the eat healthier which went quite well for the most part — we did a lot of HelloFresh, meal prep, and salad nights, but what I mostly learned is eating healthy really comes down to portion control. Something I want to take with me into 2022.

A big bucket list item was buy a house — I crossed that off the list Jan 2021. My house finally feels like mine, after adding furniture, style, and a backyard! I was able to be a first time foster mom to my first puppy — Scruffy. He taught me a lot about fostering and I plan to try out more fostering before Kevin and I get our own puppy. We didn’t get one in 2021, but we do have plans for one in 2022 and already have his name picked out.

Reinvest in learning is always a continuous goal of mine and back in September I added being a new board member for the Tombolo Institute for their Customer Experience certificate program. I just started the class and I cannot wait to continue adding to my own personal growth here and help others along the way.

A big achievable goal in 2021 was self care — with more time spent at home or just with each other Kevin and I began a new self care routine of face masks, bubble baths, acupuncture matt, and theragun. If you haven’t been using face masks for hydrating your face definitely get yourself some — helps with blemishes and keeping your skin very youthful! Epsom salt baths have been rewarding and helps heal the sore muscles after working out, while the acupuncture matt has been great for sore spots on the back and help with pain tolerance. And finally the theragun — this was the best purchase of my life; helps relieve soreness and we use it religiously every night!

Improvements:

And then there were some goals that I just didn’t meet. My hiking goal was vague, but I didn’t get out to hike as many places as I wanted — 10 hikes in a year doesn’t seem like that much. And then there’s invest in the stock market — I need to learn more and do some research on stocks more in 2022 I didn’t really do that in 2021. My be more adventurous goal was a bit tamed do to the pandemic I couldn’t just go scheduling adventures at the drop of a hat, but maybe 2022 will be a little more spontaneous. And lastly volunteering more — was a bit hard to do in 2021 again with COVID rates spiking, but I do plan to do more volunteer work virtually in 2022 and hopefully in person!

And now to my 2022 goals!

2022 Goals:

For 2022 I’m keeping my goals very simple with the 5 below. For 2022 I just want to maintain a healthy lifestyle between exercise and eating. If I feel like working out I will and other days if I don’t I don’t. But still hold myself accountable to staying healthy. In terms of eating — go back to portion control, but don’t resort to just salads. Eat what I want just portion control and moderation. There’s so much to explore within driving distances so get outside and find those places. And find new activities to share with each other — find ways to unplug and be one with nature. That goes hand in hand with my hiking goal; hike as much as I can. Goal number four — adventure and travel safely. The virus is still out there which has changed everyone’s lives in the last 2 years, but that can’t stop us from adventuring, traveling, and doing it safely. So find those road trips, finding creative ways to adventure and still see so much will be imperative through 2022. And lastly being gracious and thankful for all that I have. Last year really taught be to be thankful and 2022 will be the year of thanks — giving back to the community, calling more friends and family, checking in on more people, and just being thankful.

  • Exercise, maintain healthy weight/lifestyle
  • Get outside and explore
  • Hike as much as I can
  • Adventure, travel, but be safe
  • Be gracious and thankful for what I have — Give back to the community more
